Located in the Algarve’s ‘golden triangle’ of Vilamoura, Vale do Lobo, and Quinta do Lago, Pinheiros Altos is well-regarded for its spectacular golfing facilities. A highlight for enthusiasts is the resort’s 27-hole championship course and its spectacular clubhouse, boasting a restaurant, bar and a luxurious members’ lounge. In addition, you will find a Pro Shop on-site, as well as a cutting-edge golf academy.
The course originally consisted of 18 holes, which were designed and laid out by Ronald Fream, the renowned American golf architect. 9 additional holes were designed ana implemented at a later date by George Santana da Silva, a well-respected Portuguese golf architect. The course comprises of three contrasting nine-hole runs, each classed as a PAR 36 course. All three courses – The Olives, The Pines, and The Corks – are laid out to have their starting points within easy distance of the impressively-appointed Pinheiros Altos Clubhouse.
All three courses are known for testing a golfer’s skill, due to their creative design and resilient surfaces. This is thanks in large part to the Pentcross Bent and Bermuda fairway grass with which the courses are sown.
